Oratorical Contest:Extra Credit

In my opinion, the Oratorial Contest was fun and very crowded. It was a lot of people there looking at the performances. As a whole, we did a good job on our 8th grade pesentation. Also, I was happy to see some of the 8th graders win trophies for reciting their poems. It was a good event to attend.

Parent's Review

Hello, my name is Lyn Keith, the mother of James Keith III.
I was elated when James told me I had to comment on his blog.
Earlier in the day, I was just saying to a co-worker how glad
I was about not having to help my children with their homework
anymore. I had no idea that James had an assignment that I could
be a part of. I think blogging is great. It gives children more incentive to complete assignments and parents can be more involved.

New Teacher Essay

My name Is James and I would like to welcome you to New Media Technology Charter School's 8th grade class. The subjects I would like to be taught in Social Studies class are World History, and history on our culture. Also, I would like to know would you rather explain yourself verbally or visually?

First, I would like to be taught world history because I want to know more about the world and my environment. I'm a nature person, so I like plants, animals etc. Knowing a lot about the world is a good thing because I would like to be more involved in my community, and make a difference in the world. I could make a difference in this world by not littering, and picking up bottles and trash on the ground.

Second, I would like to be taught more about my culture & heritage. Slavery was a big part in why we celebrate Black History til this day. Our ancestor's went through a lot to be free, and not be mistreated anymore. Also, black history month is in the month of February, so that could be something you can teach us when you come.

Third, I would like to know if you feel better explaining yourself verbally or visually. Some teachers are shy when they get in front of a class, so that's why I would like to know which one would you feel most comfortable doing. I want you to be apart of the New Media family.

In conclusion, I just explained to you what I would like to be taught in Social Studies class. I'm sure you will be a good teacher to the 7th and 8th grade classes. I Hope you enjoy the rest of your New Media experience with us!
